If you recall, the office area (which is really just a desk and a computer but sounds much more professional when the word ‘office’ is used) was originally sharing space with the playroom. I wanted to move it to a new location in the basement to create more room for the girls to play. The space I wanted to use was a sitting area which didn’t get much use because of the 2 full sized couches that are in the basement and have much more room for streching out and relaxing.
Why did this project take so long? There was a lot of organization involved. The new space was set up with 5 bookcases which housed a lot of stuff… CDs, DVDs, novels, textbooks, board games, photos, scrapbooks and junk. I had the enjoyable task of sorting through all of this and cleaning it up. I’m not one to just start moving things around and seeing where I end up. There was plenty of planning and even a schematic involved.
I used several boxes in my new organization system. These are an efficient way of storing similar items together and cleaning up visual clutter. These boxes are from the Kassett series at Ikea. I love these because they come in a variety of colours and sizes and are also inexpensive.
