Healthy Mom Challenge: Week 5 Challenge

Another week and another Healthy Mom Challenge.  Here’s what I’ve got in store for this week:

For this challenge, I am looking to increase the number of steps I take every day.  Did you know the recommended number of steps per day is 10,000?  In my second week of this challenge, I strapped on a pedometer to gauge how close I was coming to this target.  I’ve been wearing it ever since and while I usually reach that goal a couple days a week, the rest of the time I’m a few thousand steps off.  On days when I’m busy at work (meaning no lunch and staying late – usually 2 days a week), I only reach about half of what I should.  My goal is to take a walk each day – a walk at lunch, walk to pick the girls up at daycare or a walk around the block before dinner.  I’m aiming for an extra 1,000 steps per day!

Last week I tried to limit the amount of treats I ate.  My goal was one per day and I did well – on most days!  I treated myself to a donut and iced cap while waiting for M one day after work and I had both a cookie and cupcake yesterday.  I would still consider the week a success though!  I even made my way through a 3 hour meeting without eating one of the fresh cookies that tempted me the whole time!
